Bible Look-Up - Several Versions

We gays have been so abused by the masses using Scripture against us, that many of us are afraid of God's Holy Word. The Bible is NOT our accuser. It is people who, in the spirit of wanting to obey God, have erroneously persecuted us. Let us make that distinction first, and then delve headlong into studying the Bible with all integrity and passion to find its TRUTH.

I must preface this Bible Look-Up with some critical information about the things that you may find using this search tool.

It may appear that God condemns homosexuals. When you read something that conveys this impression, jump right to the Christianity & Homosexuality pages or the page on the Clobber Verses for explanations of how these verses have been misinterpreted.

Be very clear that God DOES condemn homosexual (AND heterosexual) sex when it involves ritual impurity (idolatry), power or rape. However, the concept of orientation was only recognized about a hundred years ago, so the authors of Scripture could not have been referring to sex between people in a loving, monogamous relationship.

Digital Bible - King James Version

- compiled by Danny Reynolds

- includes extras such as the Apocrypha, Gems of the Bible, Plants of the Bible, Animals of the Bible, The Wars of the Jews by Josephus.

I asked Danny why he did it.  He says:

It took me almost a year to complete. There are several reasons for doing it; the first is completely selfish, as my eyes fade with age, I know a time will come when I will need a Bible I can read, hence the large fonts and parchment background for less eyestrain than plain white.

I also wanted it to feel (as much as humanly possible) like an old family Bible passed from an older generation for the sake of nostalgia, hence the use of a few traditional paintings by artists like DaVinci, Michaelangelo, Degas, etc. as well as sprinkling the chapter headings with the Anglican font for the first letter of each book of the Bible, in color, as you would have seen in a nice family bible 100 years ago.

I added the historical books of the Apocrypha and "Wars Of The Jews" because I sort of like history, and while neither is considered inspired or sacred text, they are useful in knowing the contextual and historical settings which they vividly describe.

I added the Plants, Animals, and Gems sections because, like most readers, I always skipped past the mention of a plant, animal, or gem I did not recognize and came to think maybe knowing a little about those would give more weight to the significance of their mention in Holy Scripture. In researching those, I learned a lot that I didn't know before, and thus the relevant scripture has a deeper meaning to me.

I added the glossary and footnotes as a way to further explain things when curiosity strikes, but they don't distract you from simply reading the scripture from point A to point B.
Finally, I added the mini-concordance as a quick topical reference, knowing it isn't going to help someone doing deep topical research, but for a quick guide, it might help.

I created a quick rainbow fish logo from a copy-paste screenshot of the rainbow fish on the opening of the Christian Gays website. I only referred to it as "CG" so that anyone looking over your shoulder wouldn't have a clue, but users of CG will instantly recognize the rainbow fish. That is so that if anyone who uses the CG King James Bible and is in the closet can feel comfortable knowing whence it came; from God, and CG.

If you look in the Glossary under Eunuch, Homosexual, Homosexuality, and Onan you will find a reasonable and historically accurate list of the Clobber Passages, and why they are wrong. There is a link to The TREVOR PROJECT as well.

So far, two churches have asked for (and received) a customized copy, with their own church logo.  Anybody can add or edit the glossary, footnotes, etc in their own copy, but the initial copy they ALL get is the exact same one you see.

All of the text and images in the KJV HTML bible are public domain or created by myself, so you may copy, edit, and distribute to your heart's content:; there is NO copyright on it. I do ask that nobody sells it, although I cannot and won't stop you from doing so.

For the future:  The existing KJV HTML Bible is what I customize to each person/group I give it to. I am awaiting permission from Harper / Collins and Thomas Nelson publishers to transcribe the NEW KING JAMES BIBLE, using the same basic structure, footnotes, etc. The primary difference will be an end product which is more user friendly, and with a few tweaks on some of the graphics to give it a more grand style (like every Book and Chapter heading will be in the gold Anglican font), and jumping from a specific text to the exact footnote, and back again will be a single click, rather than multiple clicks.

If Harper / Collins grants me permission or offers me an affordable limited license, I will be very happy, so please keep that in your prayers. I have already begun that project (which should take about 2 years to complete) because the publishers require it. If / when it is complete, it will probably be available as a free or low-cost download from the publishers. The NKJV is more accurate than the KJV, but maintains most of the eloquence of the KJV.
